The Revolutionary War Comes To Life At This Huge Battle Reenactment In Massachusetts
Massachusetts celebrates Patriot’s Day with a massive reenactment of the battles of Lexington and Concord at Minute Man National Historical Park.
Massachusetts is actually one of the few states that celebrates Patriot’s Day, which commemorates the first battle of the American Revolutionary War on April 19, 1775. If you’re looking for a fun and educational way to spend this historical holiday, check out this massive battle reenactment that takes place right where the original conflict occurred.
The 244th anniversary of the start of the Revolutionary War is about to be celebrated with a bang.
On Patriot’s Day weekend, April 13-15, 2019, Minute Man National Historical Park will play host to a huge reenactment of the famous battles of Lexington and Concord.
The festivities will be held over Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Fascinating and demonstrations will be held every day.
On Saturday, visitors will be able to watch hundreds of reenactors engage in weapons demonstrations and observe as a procession of civilian evacuees flee their homes before the fighting begins.
On Sunday, you can help make make cartridges for the minute men at the home of Colonel James Barrett and his family. Don’t forget to keep watch for the British soldiers and hide military supplies!
The weekend culminates on Monday, April 15 with the great Lexington Battle Reenactment.
At 5:30 a.m. (set your alarms!) reenacts will bring the "shot heard round the world" to life with a huge battle demonstration.
It’s a spectacular event filled with gun smoke, elaborate costuming, and a real sense of excitement.
The battle is early enough that you’ll be able to catch it before work if you don’t have the holiday off.
If you don’t want to get up early, the weekend includes plenty of other activities for all ages and interests.
