Maine is rich in unique traditions that bring families and friends together, from Sunday dinners to blueberry picking.

Living in Maine means soaking up all things Vacationland. It means knowing where the best and cheapest lobster can be bought. And it means knowing that some of the best moments in life are had when surrounded by friends and family doing pretty much nothing. Living in Maine also means a life full of tradition. 1. Enjoying Sunday dinner with the family.

This might actually be a British thing, but wherever it originated from, we're happy to have it! We also have some weird foods here that no one else does.

2. Complaining about everything related to driving beginning with the first day of Spring.

After a winter full of ice and snow, those potholes and road construction are nothing to joke about! Especially if you've got somewhere to be.

3. Finding as many hearts on Valentine's Day in Portland.

And then trying to figure out who the Valentine's Day Bandit really is!

4. Wearing pajamas inside out while wishing for snow.

Snow days in Maine can be few and hard to come by, but kids who grew up here might remember wearing their pajamas inside out. Rumor has it that this can lead to snow and a day off from school!

5. Celebrating the opening day of hunting season.

If that day happens to fall on a school day, better hope someone else can give you the homework!

6. Picking Maine wild blueberries on a summer's day hike.

Bonus points if you know to bring plastic containers so that the blueberries don't get crushed on the way back!

7. Or, leaving the hard work to the professionals and hitting a you-pick spot as soon as the season is right.
