You might have been to animal sanctuaries before, but the San Diego Zoo Safari Park is in a league all its own. In fact, at over 2.8 square miles, it’s the biggest safari park in the United States. You can visit with wild animals from afar or up close, and you’ll get to learn all about the incredible conservation efforts of the Safari Park keepers and veterinarians.
The Safari Park is the place to go for exotic animal sightings. Animals here are treated like gold and are encouraged to engage in their natural behaviors in habitats built especially for them.
Endangered animals, such as condors, are encouraged to breed in this sanctuary, and there has been great success over the years in increasing even the tiniest populations.
Another species that is a focus of the Safari Park is the rhino. Carefully designed breeding programs have resulted in the ability to keep Northern White Rhino genes in the gene pool, even with only a few of them left in the world. Come check out the rhino families who roam the park.
If you are a fan of small animals, you’ll enjoy the strikingly beautiful butterflies. Take part in the Butterfly Jungle Safari to have the full experience in the rainforest greenhouse and get to see all your new colorful friends up close!
One of the best parts of the safari tour is getting to see the animals’ faces at close range. You can really read their expressions and look into their eyes. It’s such a unique experience to get to connect with them.
Speaking of connecting, the Safari Park will allow you to witness the animals connecting with one another too! The moms and babies are always a sweet highlight of your trip to the Safari Park.
The San Diego Zoo Safari Park is a wonderful place to go for a meaningful trip and an experience to remember. Whether your favorite animals are furry or feathery, there will definitely be a special encounter for you to enjoy.
