The Surprising South Dakota Town That Makes An Excellent Weekend Getaway
Is it just me or does it seem like the west side of South Dakota is the side that gets the most attention? While the Black Hills of SoDak are obviously fabulous, there is a whole other side to the Mount Rushmore State to discover, which includes this surprising small town that makes for an excellent weekend getaway:
Located in southeast SoDak is Sioux Falls suburb of Brandon, which bills itself as "Building a Better Life."
(Once you get a look inside the town, you will see that it is a better life indeed!)
Home to just under 10,000, Brandon boasts a friendly, small town feel, yet is close to a number of big attractions like Falls Park...
Located in downtown Sioux Falls, Falls Park is home to an incredible 100-foot-tall waterfall that drop an estimated 7,400 gallons of water per second and are truly a sight to see!
...Big Sioux State Recreation Area...
Are you looking for one of the best places to hike, camp, and canoe in the state? You found it!
...and a number of epic festivals, like the Hometown Days Festival, Wilde Prairie Harvest Festival, and pictured Automania.
Up for a couple recommendations? We here at Only in South Dakota fully endorse staying and playing at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park...
...and sharing a bottle of wine at Wilde Prairie Winery.
