The Mom & Pop Restaurant In South Dakota That Serves Incredible Home Cooked Meals

Sometimes you just need some comfort food, right? When you're feeling exhausted and need some home-cooked food, visit a mom and pop restaurant with tasty food and friendly service. Bob's Carryout and Delivery in Sioux Falls fits the bill perfectly.

This little mom and pop shop has been around since 1944, when it was built as "Pickle Palace." It went through a few owners before Bob Lyons purchased it in 1951. He and his family ran the restaurant until 2000.

The restaurant is located at 1312 W. 12th Street, Sioux Falls.

The original Bob's Cafe sign still stands today as an icon in Sioux Falls. Though current owner Ben Weiland purchased the restaurant in 2000, it still offers the same great service and food.

Though he changed the name slightly, to "Bob's Carry Out And Delivery," the classic sign still stands.

In true diner fashion, the open kitchen allows you to watch the cook prepare your meal.

There's no wondering how clean the kitchen is at Bob's - you can see the whole thing right from your bar stool at the counter!

Bob's specialty is "Broasted" chicken. The chicken is marinated, then placed in a special pressure cooker that seals in all the juicy flavor, while cooking the skin to a delicious crispiness that people really love.

This isn't your typical fried chicken - it's much, much better.

You can order a broasted turkey, too.

The cooked turkey should be ordered three days in advance to allow Bob's to prepare it for you. Call the restaurant at 336-7260 to reserve a turkey.

The chicken isn't the only star of the show here. The Big Bob is the best burger you'll ever try.

It features a 1/2 pound of juicy ground beef, Swiss cheese, onions, bacon and bbq sauce.

Bob's knows how to prepare this ooey, gooey classic with onions, peppers and provolone.

The boneless ribs will melt in your mouth.

You can get a single order of ribs, or order them family-style with servings for three or four people. Or, place an advanced order that will feed up to twelve!

Visit Bob's Tuesday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm; Friday and Saturday 9:00 am to 9:00 pm; Sunday 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. Dine in, take out, or have Bob's deliver right to your house!
