Operated by the National Audubon Society, the Silver Bluff Center and Sanctuary is situated along the Savannah River in the small town of Jackson and encompasses approximately 3,400 acres of forests, fields, lakes, ponds, and streams that support a wide variety of wildlife.
Visitors can stroll along three different trails to look for wildlife. The longest, the Quail Trail, is a three-mile loop that overlooks the Savannah River. The Tanager Trail is also a loop, two miles long, that connects to an out-and-back boardwalk trail, and the Nuthatch Trail is a 3/4-mile loop near the butterfly garden.
The trails are unpaved but wide and flat, suitable for wagons, strollers, or motorized wheelchairs.

Wood Stork foraging ponds are located where the pavement ends on Silver Bluff Road. Late July through September is the time of year to visit to see these amazing creatures! The only species of stork that resides in the United States, they are found in the coastal areas of South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.
