Did you know there is a fairy garden in South Carolina? Enter a whimsical world of wonder as you embrace the childlike awe of your youth. Join in on an enchanting world where fairy villages, fairies, gnomes, elves, and more roam the land. Not enough people know about the fairyland found hidden away in the Children's Garden at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens in Charleston. And if you've managed to somehow overlook this gem, then maybe it's high time to check it out.
With all there is to see within Magnolia's 390 acres comprised of garden after garden, it's no wonder folks have to prioritize what to see in a day's visit.
The property itself is a great location to take your family for a day by the other-worldly swamplands, walk through rows of colorful flowers, and soak in some local history. There is so much to see and do in this wonderful place you would think it was magical, but the garden just got a little bit more whimsical with its latest occupants.
It may be a small edition but don't overlook or underestimate the charm found in the Children's Garden.
Little fairy houses are spread out leaving guests a place to explore and find all of these hidden structures.
For starters, there's a magical little wonderland filled with fairy villages, fairy houses, fairies, and even some other magical or mystical creatures.
It is as if you step into a whole new world where your wildest imaginations come to life right before your very eyes.
Be sure to budget plenty of time to take in all of the details. You won't want to miss a single house. Many of the homes are constructed out of small materials like a toy teapot or this pebble castle. What a clever design!
Since the Children's Garden opened in 2018, fairies from all over seem to be moving in and taking over. What was once just one fairy village has grown to several fairy villages in just a few short years! And that's not all you'll find in the Children's Garden.
The littles in your family will love this, too! Where else in Charleston can you spot a unicorn in the woods??
Or a dragon?
We love the attention to detail and the wonderful variety you can find in the garden. From wooden flying fairies to landmark replicas hidden deep in the garden. This is a great place to suspend your unbelief and really live like a child again.
The Children's Garden also includes a small-scale village with homes and buildings just the right size for little ones to wander in and out.
The Children's Garden is located right off the big Avenue of Oaks just past the Plantation House and the Maze. We did already mention there's much to see at Magnolia Gardens beside the Children's Garden. While you're here check out the House, the Gardens, the Nature Boat, the Zoo & Nature Center, the Swamp Gardens, and the Peacock Cafe. Sounds like a lot, right? That's why your one-day admission ticket also allows you to return again within seven days for free! It's open every day of the year starting at 9 a.m. (except closed on Christmas Day). Note, that some of the sights listed above require an added admission. But admission to the Children's Garden is included in the general admission ticket. To learn more please visit the Magnolia Plantation and Gardens website.
If you are visiting from out of town and need a ride then this Magnolia Plantation and Gardens ticket will be perfectly suited for you.
