It's true: when you find a restaurant with downright delicious food, an atmosphere that matches your casual nature (to a tee!), and a view to die for... recommending it to out-of-towners can spark a small, momentary twinge of regret. Do you have a favorite restaurant in your South Carolina town or city you'd rather keep a local secret? Then you know exactly what we mean... the following restaurant in the Palmetto State is so very good, the locals would love to keep it to themselves; however, the secret was let out of the bag on this eatery years ago. Take a peek below to see why it's so amazing...
The Marina Variety Store, located just outside of the busy Charleston historic district, is a treat for your eyes, your taste buds, your nose, and your soul.
Ever since this diner opened back in 1963, local and visitors alike have been enjoying the goodness from breakfast all the way through dinner.
It's located right on Charleston harbor with views that simply can't be beat.
And neither can their signature Southern style food. Ever have crab cakes and fried shrimp with your morning eggs? It's delicious at this eatery! Get it with a side of their creamy and thick grits. Yum!
And whether you want chicken and waffles, or just chicken smothered in gravy and served with traditional eggs, potatoes and a biscuit, you'll find it here — along with other flavorful breakfasts and specials.
Lunch and dinner menus bring their own flavorful surprises, like traditional shrimp and grits with gator bites as an added option. Of course, you'll find so many fresh seafood choices at this waterfront diner that you'll have to return again and again to try them all!
And to see that amazing view!
A word of advice about dessert: if you eat too much and don't have any room, then get it to go. You can thank us later...
