One persistent stereotype about the people of Rhode Island is that they tend not to leave the state much. Let’s be honest. There might be some truth to this! While traveling is a wonderful experience to have, you can’t really blame Rhody residents for loving home. There are just so many wonderful things about this place. Here are a few signs that you haven’t left the Ocean State in a while and it might be time to visit a distant land (like Boston!).

1. This is a bubbler, not a water fountain.

2. You avoid driving anywhere further than 15 minutes away.

3. The word milkshake confuses you because to you these are cabinets.

4. You only go to tourist hot spots in the off season.

5. Sometimes you forget to put the letter R on the end of words. "Pahk the cah ovuh thea."

6. It's been so long since you've left Rhode Island that Boston feels impossibly far away.

7. Going to Newport is your biggest travel adventure of the year.

8. You're much more likely to eat a hot wiener than a hot dog, and you understand the difference.

9. You use "wicked" to stress the intensity of things. "What a wicked awesome day."

10. You'll wait in line for hours for good clam cakes and chowder.

11. You only know how to give directions based on the location of Dunkin' Donuts and businesses that once existed.
