It's no secret that we love our seafood here in Rhode Island - after all, we are known as the Ocean State. And when nothing but a good old-fashioned seafood boil will do, we highly recommend checking out Shaking Crab in Providence. Not only does this place allow you the option of creating your own custom creation, but the food also happens to be fantastic.
Shaking Crab is located at 284 Thayer Street in Providence.
The eatery is a local New England chain, but this is the only location in Rhode Island.
It all started in 2015, when Nick, one of the owners, had a craving for fresh New England shellfish and bold Cajun flavors.
Nick had just returned from a trip to California and excitedly described his favorite meal of the trip to his friend Kevin: a crab boil with shrimp, crab legs, and crawfish, drenched in a spicy, garlicky sauce.
Kevin and Nick realized that these delicious seafood boils were not available in the Boston area, where they lived.
They promptly decided to open one themselves, and Shaking Crab was born.
Here, you'll start by choosing your favorite shaking boil.
Alaskan King Crab, easy-peel shrimp, and snow crab legs are all popular choices.
Next, choose from a series of flavorful sauces and spices to customize your meal.
Finish by selecting your add-ins, like corn, broccoli, and potatoes.
The result is your own delicious feast, filled with exactly what you like.
The concept is simple, but it's fantastic.
Shaking Crab seafood boils are also available for both online ordering and takeout - perfect for those who don't feel comfortable dining in or prefer to enjoy their feast at home.
No matter where you enjoy your meal, you'll be addicted to eating seafood this way.
Hours are 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 12 p.m. until 9 p.m. on weekends. Ready to order your delicious seafood boil? Click here to visit the Shaking Crab website, and here for their Facebook page.
