This Small Town Rhode Island Pub Has Some Of The Best Food In New England
There is something truly magnetic about a good old-fashioned tavern. The warm interior coupled with traditional pub food makes you feel instantly comfortable. Relax with a cold beverage and some amazing eats and you have the perfect dining experience. There is one Rhode Island pub that is outstanding both in its atmosphere and the food it serves. Let’s take a look at the spot that has some of the best pub grub in New England.
The Mews Tavern is located in Wakefield. It was originally a tiny fisherman's tavern in 1947 when it opened, but has since been transformed into a large restaurant and bar boasting several unique dining spaces.
The upstairs pub has a hunting lodge warmth to it. A wood backdrop provides the perfect palette for eye-catching decor and the booths are a cozy spot for conversation.
The Tavern Bar is something special and has hundreds of dollar bills decorating the joint. From walls to ceiling you will see currency stuck to all of the surfaces.
The large dining room is better known as the Tree Room and is a beautiful space. With high windows and skylights, it almost feels as though you are having your meal on a magical patio.
Every great pub has a delicious selection of appetizers and Mews Tavern is no exception. You'll find Old Bay fried pickles, BBQ pork nachos, and a variety of wings as a few of the scrumptious choices. But, we have a different favorite. The high gravity cheese tots are crispy tater tots topped with Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA cheese sauce, bacon, and scallions. Doesn't it look awesome?
Dive into the buffalo mac and cheese for an amazing entree. We love the flavor combination created in this unique tavern dish. You'll also find pub favorites like Shepard's pie and fish & chips on the menu.
This Rhode Island pub also has a mouthwatering selection of burgers and sandwiches. We favor the Tangled Up in Bleu burger that is a perfectly cooked Black Angus burger topped with caramelized onions, bleu cheese crumbles, crispy onion straws, and bleu cheese mayo on a toasted bun.
Savor the unique flavor combinations in the Mews Tavern wood fired pizzas. Pizzas named Muggle Pie, Popeye's Pick, and The Pink Panther just scream to be devoured.
You'll never be thirsty with 69 beers on tap at this Rhode Island pub. And if beer isn't your thing, don't worry there are plenty of other refreshing beverages on site.
When you need a refill, just signal your server with the handy "Got Beer" / "Need Beer" license plate sign on your table. Flip to the appropriate sign to display your beverage status.
Grab some friends or family and go taste some of the best food in New England at this colorful small town Rhode Island pub.
