Head To The Blackstone Valley Of Rhode Island To Visit Lindy’s Tavern, A Charming, Old Fashioned Restaurant
Lindy's Tavern in Forestdale offers delicious comfort food in a charming, historic setting.
Fine dining has its time and place, but sometimes nothing but a big plate of piping hot comfort food in a casual setting will do. The Blackstone Valley has several of those places, most notably the beloved Lindy's Tavern. This local gem serves tasty food at reasonable prices, and everything about it is delightfully charming.
Lindy's Tavern is located at 98 School Street in Forestdale, a tiny historic village that sits a half-mile from Slatersville.
This quiet corner of the state is highly underrated.
Technically, the tavern has been around since the 1950s. Unfortunately, it closed for several years.
In 2008, it was reopened under the same name by Ron Carter, who owns it to this day. Believe it or not, Ron actually drank his first-ever beer at Lindy's Tavern many years ago.
Lindy's is known for its warm, welcoming environment.
In pre-Covid times, the dining area was often packed with friendly locals and visitors alike.
But as nice as a good atmosphere is, people come to Lindy's Tavern for the fantastic food as well.
The menu consists mainly of classic American eats, and they seem to excel at everything they do.
Given Rhode Island's coastal location, it would be a shame not to have seafood on the menu.
Luckily, this place has an entire section devoted to fish, lobsters, steamer clams, scallops, and more.
The lobster rolls, which are served with fries and coleslaw, are downright addictive.
But even if you're not a fan of seafood, you'll find something to enjoy here. Dinner entrees include Chicken Parmesan and a large selection of steaks.
Lindy's Tavern is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. - 10 p.m.
While limited indoor dining is currently available, you can get anything you'd like to-go and enjoy it from the comfort of home.
