Wine lovers know there's nothing better than savoring a nice wine tasting... that is, except savoring a nice wine tasting in a peaceful, breathtaking setting. Langworthy Farm offers a unique experience, especially since you can both buy wine and spend the night at the onsite B&B. Come see what this historic gem is all about.
Langworthy Farm Winery is located in Westerly.
And while the wine has been around for over 15 years, the property goes back much farther, to 1875.
This farm, which sits about half a mile from the ocean, happens to have fantastic grape growing conditions.
The family planted the first Vinifera grape vines in 2002, planting some Chardonnay grapes the same year. Their growth and production has only continued to climb.
The winery offers a large selection of vino, although red definitely outnumbers the white wine.
The good news is, everything tastes wonderful and you really can't go wrong.
Visit the tasting room to sample the goods -- but make sure it's open before you visit.
Current conditions have caused the winery to temporarily limit hours and tastings, although you're always welcome to pick up wine bottles.
You can enjoy a glass of wine or split a bottle with a few friends on the patio.
And when tours resume, you'll be able to tour the winery on Saturdays and Sundays.
If you end up loving this place so much you can't leave, ask about the beautiful bed and breakfast.
Langworthy Farm Bed & Breakfast opened in July 2000 after extensive renovations were done of the farmhouse. There are seven rooms and suites, each one with a private bath. Some even have ocean views.
This farmhouse was built in 1875 on the historical homesite of Governor Samuel Ward.
And today, it's one of the most fantastic places to spend an afternoon in Rhode Island.
