Summertime, especially on its hottest days, often gives us a dilemma. Will we stay cool in the A/C, or is it one of those days we want to head outdoors, soak up the summer heat, and cool down at a local waterpark or by floating down a lazy river? If you’re on the hunt for a day of summer fun, pack all of your beach gear for a day riding down this natural waterslide in Pennsylvania.
Stay cool on one of those notoriously hot summer days by riding down Meadow Run Natural Waterslide at Ohiopyle State Park, a massive playground for outdoor lovers.
Before you head over to the park, however, make sure you’re okay slipping down the waterslide and playing in the water even though there are no lifeguards in the area.
The quickest way to reach Meadow Run Natural Waterslide is to drive along State Route 381, which will lead you to a parking lot that fits about 20 cars. You’ll then see signs that direct you to the waterslide.
However, if you’re up for more of an adventure, you can also follow the Meadow Run Trail. The scenic trail spans just under three miles and will lead you past such scenery as…
Waterfalls and lush forested area. Whichever way you decide to arrive at the natural waterslide, prepare for a ton of fun (and for crowds if it’s a really hot day).
The natural waterslide is comprised of 300-million-year-old sheets of sandstone, so you could suffer a few bumps and bruises on your ride.
You might want to pack a pair of water shoes and a bathing suit for your ride down the waterslide, which will end in a small but refreshing pool.
