Let’s have a little fun today, PA! We all have our reasons for living in Pennsylvania – whether we have lived here our entire lives or a job, a relationship, or something else lured us here. Obviously, PA’s got something special that keeps us here. Here are five reasons everyone should live in Pennsylvania and five reasons you shouldn’t.
Pennsylvania is such an eclectic state. Love the big city? Visit Philly, Pittsburgh, or Harrisburg. Prefer the charm of a small town? Jim Thorpe, Lititz, and New Hope are ideal destinations. You can find big city excitement and small town charm in all corners of Pennsylvania. What more could we ask for?
You have to work pretty hard to be bored in PA. No matter where you travel in the state, you’ll find so much to do, no matter what your likes and dislikes. Spend Saturdays shopping at antique malls, flea markets, and mud houses. Cheer on the Phillies, Steelers, and Penguins. Explore one of the state’s 120 state parks. Or, hike through Allegheny National Forest.

Snack lovers, rejoice! PA is a snack lover’s dream come true. Craving chocolate? You’re in the land of Hershey and Tastykake. Prefer something salty, like pretzels or chips? Herr’s, Utz, and Snyder’s of Hanover are some of your choices. Need we say more?

Need a little inspiration? Want to spend a day embracing nature? You have endless choices in PA. Sink your feet into the sand at Presque Isle State Park as you admire Lake Erie. Meander among the flowers at Chanticleer Garden or Longwood Gardens. Feel the spray of Bushkill Falls, known as the Niagara Falls of Pennsylvania.
Sure, you’ll find countless amazing people from coast to coast in the U.S. Pennsylvanians are special, though. We’ve got a diverse population and people who will always greet you with a friendly smile. You definitely want to be in PA when a crisis hits. Pennsylvanians rally around those who need our help.
And, here are five reasons not to live in Pennsylvania:
Are you good at making decisions? You’ll probably want to be if you plan on living in PA. After all, will you get your morning coffee and afternoon sandwich from Sheetz or Wawa? Will you cheer for the Philly teams or the Pittsburgh teams?
But, boy is it delicious! Who would pass up the chance to dig into shoofly pie, sandwiches topped with fries and coleslaw, and scrapple? Okay, well, scrapple’s a hit or a miss. You’ll either love it or you’ll hate it.
PA’s just downright beautiful. From the 21 waterfalls at Ricketts Glen State Park to Pine Creek Gorge, our very own Grand Canyon, you won’t find such spectacular natural beauty anywhere else. You’ll be spoiled for life and happily so.

Just accept that fact when you move to Pennsylvania. Nowhere else you travel or live will compare to PA. Sure, you might fall in love with different cities and countries. But the sheer beauty, the friendliness, and the diversity in PA will always lure you back home.
Up for a little adventure? Well, you’re sure to find it in PA. Sometimes you might even do something you never thought you’d do before. Like racing in an outhouse in Dushore. Watching wiener dogs race at Kennywood, and finding amazing deals at your local mud sale.
