Pittsburghers are pretty spoiled when it comes to having access to the water. After all, we've got the Three Rivers right at our doorstep, which provides us with a ton of opportunities for having fun on and by the water. However, what happens when we want to get away for a few nights while still staying near the water? We plan a visit to this riverfront campground near Pittsburgh that features some of the best river tubing in Pennsylvania.
Pack your camping gear; turn up the tunes, and journey to Uniontown KOA Holiday.
First, however, you'll have to decide what type of camping experience you crave. Will you bring your RV? The campground offers numerous RV sites, including riverfront RV sites with your own patio.
Or, do you prefer the old-fashioned experience of snuggling up in a tent each night?
If you want some of the amenities of home, you can reserve one of the campground's deluxe cabins.
Once you're all settled in, you'll find plenty to do at the campground. Because you're right on the edge of the Youghiogheny River, you'll probably want to spend a lot of time in the water, right?
Uniontown KOA Holiday offers tubing, canoeing, and kayaking. (Be sure to make reservations for your float trip ahead of time.)
Your adventure begins with a ride, courtesy of KOA staff, three miles up the river. There, you'll begin your float back to the camp site.
Enjoy a leisurely float - which can take anywhere from 1.5 hours to three hours (or more) - along the Youghiogheny River. Stop on the riverbanks for a picnic, or pull over for a bit of fishing.
When you return to camp, check out the rest of the site, which includes a swimming pool, a playground, an indoor game room, and themed weekends.
The campground's brimming with amenities - from the KOA Cafe and a basketball court to horseshoe pits and hiking and biking trails.
Reserve your stay on the Uniontown KOA Holiday website. Or, stop by its Facebook page.
