The Hidden Park That Will Make You Feel Like You’ve Discovered Pittsburgh’s Best Kept Secret
Step inside a magical world where ducks peacefully lap around picturesque ponds, birds serenade you as you hike, and you kick your feet in the air, reaching for the sky on a swing just like you did when you were a kid. That piece of paradise lies in Beaver County and it just might be Pittsburgh’s best kept secret.
Let go of your worries when you journey to Sahli Nature Park, a natural paradise stretched across 90 lush acres of forest in Beaver County, which first opened to the public in 2012.
Cross over a quaint foot bridge as you hike one of the park's many trails, the longest of which tallies just over a mile. Many of the trails - the Seneca Loop and the Delaware Trail, for example - are named after Native American tribes.
Laugh like a kid when you climb on one of the swings in the trees and pump your legs harder and harder until you feel as though you're touching the clouds.
When you come upon an enchanted tiny house, step inside the Information Center, where you can learn more about the forest that surrounds you and you can add to your name to the guestbook.
Stop by the greenhouse, too, a butterfly nursery, where you can view butterflies in all stages of development, from the time they are tiny caterpillars.
Sahli Nature Park welcomes visitors daily from dawn to dusk, all year around. All visitors enter through the parking lot on McKinley Road and, if you get lost on one of the trails, don't worry. The majority of the trails lead straight to the parking lot.
Slip away from everyday life – even for a brief moment – when you visit Pittsburgh’s best kept secret: Sahli Nature Park, a secret park that just might leave you inspired and recharged.
