Hiking gives us a glimpse into other worlds if we allow our imagination to run free. If we follow this fairy tale trail in Pennsylvania, for example, we can journey onto the pages of our favorite childhood stories. The scenery, after all, looks as though it's leaped to life from those oft-told fairy tales. Picturesque footbridges. Towering trees. Gentle streams. This enchanting trail has it all.
You don't need a whole lot of time to experience the fairytale trail that is Alan Seeger Trail, a short but oh-so-sweet path that spans just over half a mile.
However, if you're not in a hurry, you might want to take your time - to really soak up the natural beauty surrounding you as you explore this lush natural area.
Nestled in Rothrock State Forest in Huntingdon, the natural area spans 390 acres and is home to a wealth of natural beauty.
However, it is perhaps best known for its old-growth hemlock, yellow birch, and white pine trees.
Take just a moment to stand below the trees, look up, and marvel at their majesty.
You'll also pass scores of rhododendron in this tranquil Pennsylvania oasis. Stop to smell the flowers (but remember not to pick them).
Hikers give the trail high marks for being well-marked and absolutely breathtaking. Because it's so easy, it attracts families with kids of all ages.
The canopy of trees offers such stunning views that you'll want to see it in each season, particularly after a fresh snowfall.
