1. Solebury Orchards – New Hope
Load your bucket with juicy apples when you visit Solebury Orchards in New Hope. A wagon pulled by a tractor will take you to the apple orchards where you can pick your own apples, such as honey crisp and gala apples. Apple picking season runs through November 6.
2. Paulus Orchards – Dillsburg
Stroll around some of the 150 acres that comprise Paulus Orchards. The autumn season at the orchards means the opportunity to pick your own apples (and pumpkins), to attempt to find your way out of a confusing five acre corn maze, and to enjoy a homemade treat from Karen's Kitchen. Pick your own apples on Saturdays, Sundays, and on Columbus Day.
3. Soergel Orchards – Wexford
View the fall foliage of Soergel Orchards aboard a hay ride that will take you to the pumpkin patch to pick your own pumpkins or stroll to the apple orchard to fill your basket with crispy apples. The orchard's fall festival, which runs every weekend from September 24 to October 30, promises fun for the whole family. Pick your own apples, starting on September 24, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
4. Weaver's Orchard – Morgantown
Stop by Weaver's Orchard now through November to stock up on juicy, delicious apples (pick your own, of course). Different types of apples will be available as they are harvested but you'll have your pick of gala, honey crisp, Macintosh, and golden supreme. Visitors are advised to wear closed-toed shoes during their trip to the orchard as yellow jackets, bees, and hornets are particularly active on the ground this year.
5. Apple Castle – New Wilmington
Wear comfy shoes as you embark on your apple picking adventure at Apple Castle in New Wilmington. Stop by the farm to pick your own apples right off of the trees the remaining Saturdays in September and the first three Saturdays of October from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visitors can also pick their own apples during the annual Fall Harvest Festival and Craft Fair, on October 8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
6. Grim's Orchard & Family Farms - Breinigsville
Choose from 25 different varieties of apples as you trek through the apple orchards at Grim's Orchard & Family Farms. Visitors are invited to pick apples daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through late October. Or, plan to visit the farm during the Fall Festival, every weekend in September (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and on Fridays, Saturdays (10 a.m. to 10 p.m.), and Sundays (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) in October. The Fall Festival features apple picking, pumpkin picking, hay rides, and a total of 19 attractions.
7. Linvilla Orchards – Media
Pay homage to apples at Linvilla Orchard's Apple Festival and Pie Eating Contest on September 24 and 25. Apple picking begins promptly at 8 a.m. and pie eaters will square off at 2 p.m. The Apple Festival features such activities as hay rides, train rides, pony rides, and face painting. Picking your own apples is available daily from 8 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. with the last wagon departing for the orchards at 6 p.m.
8. Simmons Farm – Canonsburg
Go apple picking at Simmons Farm where you'll have your choice of apple varieties, depending on when you visit, including gala, Paula red, golden delicious, Fuji, empire, and granny smith. Make time to visit the charming farm store where you can purchase delicious homemade items. Call before your visit to Simmons Farm for that day's hours and for information on the availability of apples.
9. Strites Orchard – Harrisburg
Explore some of the 300 acres that comprises Strites Orchard. Pick your own apples at the picturesque farm. Or, pick some grapes and choose your Halloween pumpkins at the orchard. Strites Orchard welcomes guests Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
10. Brown's Orchards & Farm Market – Loganville
Spend a relaxing morning or afternoon at Brown's Orchards & Farm Market, where you can pick your own apples now through October. The type of apples depend on the time of year with current varieties including gala, honey crisp, prime gold, and McIntosh. Fresh apple cider is also available.
