One of the best things about fall in Oregon is the comfort food. Once you drag those sweaters and hoodies out of the closet for the chilly weather, it's time to think about filling your belly with food that makes you feel cozy. Hands-down, the world's best comfort food has to be mac 'n cheese. Nowadays, this pasta dish is so much more than just noodles and cheese; it comes in all kinds of ooey, gooey varieties, with lots of unique ingredients and flavors thrown in.

You can get excellent mac 'n cheese all over the state, but there's a festival coming this week where you can try dozens of versions all in one spot:

Are you ready for an epic mac 'n cheese event? It's coming to Portland on October 27, 2019!

Get ready...when this festival rolls into town, it includes more than 1,000 pounds of cheese, millions of noodles, and more than 18 local chefs, each creating a signature mac 'n cheese dish.

This is the second annual Mac 'n Cheese Festival, and if you were here last year, you know how delicious it is. Some of Portland's best restaurants and food trucks will be here, and each will be battling for the title of Best Mac 'N Cheese In The City.

The festival starts at 11 a.m. and goes until 6 p.m. While you're here, you'll enjoy unlimited tastings, so bring your appetite.

There's something for everyone here! Whether you're a purist who believes that mac 'n cheese should just focus on the noodles and top-quality cheese, or you like your mac accompanied by add-ons like bacon, pulled pork, or a host of savory sauces from all over the world, you'll find it here.

Vegans are welcome, too! Many of the vendors will be offering vegan versions of this delightful dish. Not sure you like vegan mac 'n cheese? Now's the time to try it, and we think you're going to be amazed at what Portland's best vegan chefs can pull off.

The portions here are small - just two ounces - so you'll have room to try at least one from every vendor. Since tastings are unlimited, once you find your favorites, you can go back again and again until you've had your fill.

The list of vendors is full of your favorites, including Lizzie Lou's, The MAC, Le Bistro Montage, Gypsy Pie Cart, and many more.

In addition to the world's best comfort food, the festival includes plenty of libations. The fully-stocked bar will include everything from beer and wine to hard cider, cocktails, and spritzers. Non-alcohol drinks include lemonade, iced tea, soda, water, and kombucha. Drinks are included in your ticket!

Get your ticket online in advance. You can choose from several types of tickets, depending on how long you want to enjoy your unlimited mac 'n cheese.

Choose a VIP pass, which lets you into the festival all day and includes unlimited tastings and unlimited drinks. Or, choose from one of the two sessions, which include unlimited tastings and three drinks. There's also a special ticket for vegan sessions, and kids ages 5-10 have their own special pricing.
