If you love the savory flavors of barbecue, but you aren’t much of a carnivore, there’s an amazing restaurant in Portland that you need to try. It offers tons of great BBQ dishes… and you’ll be surprised that none of them contain meat. Check out Homegrown Smoker:
Welcome to Homegrown Smoker, where you'll find a menu full of delicious BBQ food.
There's a little twist to the menu here — everything on it is vegan. If you already avoid meat and animal products, this place is pure heaven. If vegan is not your typical fare, don't leave yet... you absolutely have to try the food here!
You will not believe what these folks can do with vegan proteins. The smoked tempeh, short ribs, and "chikn" all have the texture of meat, and the BBQ flavors are incredible.
Grab a bunch of napkins, then sink your teeth into a tasty sandwich. Try the SloSmoMoFo, the Philthy NoCheese, the Filet O'Fu!, or the Fancy Chickn. They're all flavorful and delicious, as are the three burgers on the menu.
You'll want a side of sweet potato fries to go with your meal. These little gems are perfectly seasoned and fried, then served up with a cup of chipotle aioli.
A classic pairing with BBQ is mac 'n cheese, and Homegrown Smoker isn't about to leave you hanging. Try the Macnocheese. It's so creamy and cheesy that you'll swear they put several cups of cheddar in there, but nope. It's completely vegan.
Homegrown Smoker is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, but you can pay them a visit Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Check out Homegrown Smoker’s full menu on its website, and make sure to visit its Facebook page to see what’s new there. Have you tried the BBQ at Homegrown Smoker? Tell our readers what you think about this place in the comments!
