The nickname Goose Hollow was given to the area in the 1890s after a disagreement involving residents over the ownership of several geese. But by the mid-20th century, the moniker was no longer in use. Inspired and hoping to bring revival to the neighborhood and its history, founder Bud Clark landed on the name Goose Hollow Inn.

Bud loved his neighborhood so much that he became mayor of Portland from 1984-1992. His affection for the city and community is present in Goose Hollow Inn, a gathering place dedicated to welcoming all walks of life through its doors and guaranteeing a great time.
Local history is not the only thing to be indulged. Goose Hollow Inn is also known for its Reuben sandwiches.
