Whether you’re craving chicken fried steak, or a classic diner experience, or both, Tally’s Good Food Café won’t disappoint. In business since the 1980s, the eatery has a reputation for its tasty fare, including the best chicken fried steak on Route 66. Take a look:
This is Tally’s Good Food Café. It’s located on Route 66 in Tulsa.
It was opened on Friday the 13th in November 1987. But don’t let the unlucky date fool you; since opening its doors, Tally’s has been a hit with locals and tourists alike.
Despite being opened in the 1980s, the diner has an undeniable 50s vibe – complete with checkered floors and lots of red vinyl.
But the retro digs are just one of the many memorable things about Tally’s. There’s also the menu, which features more than 100 dishes.
Serving up a traditional diner fare, the menu includes everything from brunch cocktails and all-day breakfast to cheeseburgers, sandwiches, and home-cooked entrees.
Of all the items on the menu, the “world famous” chicken fried steak is probably the most popular.
Perfectly prepared and oozing with flavor, it’s been dubbed the best chicken fried steak on all of Route 66.
The chicken fried steak can be enjoyed the traditional way, or you can opt for Tally’s chicken fried steak sandwich, which was named the nation’s best by USA Today.
The chicken fried steak isn’t the only award-winning item on the menu, though. Tally’s breakfast has been named the state’s best and the cinnamon rolls, which are HUGE, have been dubbed Tulsa’s best.
Serving up unforgettable grub in a setting to match, it’s easy to see how Tally’s Good Food Café has endured all these years.
Tally’s Good Food Cafe is open daily from 6 a.m. – 11 p.m. For more information, call (918) 835-8039. You can also visit Tally’s website or Facebook page.
