11 Oklahoma Quirks That Set Us Apart From The Rest

A few weeks ago we asked our readers on our Only In Oklahoma Facebook page to name some extremely weird things that only Oklahomans do. We had some crazy fun answers to dig through. For instance, if you live near Oklahoma City and can recite the Christmas commercial from B.C. Clark Jewelers without thinking about the words or the tune, then you’re one of us quirky Okies. Here are a few more we think you’ll enjoy:

1. We run outside instead of inside when we hear tornado sirens.

We are notorious for this dangerous behavior.
2. We lose our minds and forget how to drive when it snows.

Even rain makes us go completely stupid and forget how to drive.
3. Gravy, please! It's an automatic that we ask for gravy with everything we eat.

It's so depressing when you travel to other states and you can't find white gravy to eat with your meal.
4. We run the heater in the morning and the air conditioning in the afternoon.

We all know we can experience all four seasons within one day.
5. If we see a storm coming, we run outside and mow the yard before it arrives.

For some reason, we think we are experts at knowing how long we have until the tornado arrives.
6. We eat ranch with everything.

7. We know the joy of Sonic ice.

We've gotten spoiled with our Sonic ice and hate visiting out-of-state restaurants and convenience stores that only have large ice chunks.
8. We wave at other cars when stopped at a 4-way stop.

9. We celebrate the largest fried onion burger in the world every year.
