People Are Coming From Miles Away To Visit This Tiny Town In Oklahoma
In the small town of Pawhuska where only 3,500 residents reside, there’s a new place on the block that’s attracting over 6,000 visitors to town every day. The Pioneer Woman Mercantile just opened in late 2016 and it’s already our new favorite place. It’s located in Downtown Pawhuska in a restored brick building and has everything from gifts and home decor to food and pastries.
The Pioneer Woman Mercantile is located at 532 Kihekah Avenue, Pawhuska, OK. The Mercantile is owned by Ree Drummond also known as The Pioneer Woman - a famous Oklahoma blogger, television personality, author, food writer, cook and photographer.
The Drummonds recently bought a historic building in Downtown Pawhuska (just outside their ranch) and turned it into The Mercantile. Rarely will you see it without a line out the door. With over 6,000 visitors a day, be prepared for a wait.
But the wait is worth it! The Mercantile consists of a general store, bakery and deli. The store is filled with Southern charm and there's plenty to do to keep you busy all day.
There are so many unique gift items. You'll spend hours just browsing all the little sections. It's like you're on a treasure hunt.
For starters, check out the cute clothes in the retail section. It's filled with all the latest Oklahoma fashion.
Then head to the knick-knacks and grab a few specialty items.
Plan on spending several hours at The Mercantile. It's not easy to get in and out of in a quick amount of time. Everything you pass by will catch your eye and you'll spend hours admiring (and buying) all the merchandise.
It's the perfect place to go for an afternoon adventure with the girlfriends. You can check out the cute town of Pawhuska, then eat a delicious meal in the deli after shopping.
And you know the food is going to be amazing because we all know The Pioneer Woman is the best cook in the world.
Make sure you try the sandwich named after her husband Ladd also known as Marlboro Man - The Marlboro Man Sandwich. It's an incredible sandwich filled with flavorful meat cooked to perfection.
You can't go wrong no matter what you choose on the menu. The menu features meat, potatoes, chicken fried steak and much more.
After indulging in all the yummy comfort food at the deli, make sure you try a few hand-crafted items from the bakery.
There is also a candy store on the second floor that is filled with all sorts of candy and goodies.
The Pioneer Woman Mercantile is open Monday through Thursday – 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday and Saturday – 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sunday – Closed.
