This local legends tells the tale of a young mother who is racing across the bridge during a storm.
It’s in June, on Friday the 13th. The year is 1924, and the mother is driving in a horse and buggy.
Lightening struck near the mother and baby, and frightened the horses, who tossed the passengers out of the carriage.
The mother got out of the carriage and searched the bridge in the driving rain. She could hear her baby crying, but couldn’t find her child.
While searching, she heard her baby’s cries from over the side of the bridge.
She leaned over the side of the bridge, lost her footing, and fell into the waters below. Neither she nor her baby were ever seen again. Legend states that if you visit this bridge on Friday the 13th, you can hear the baby crying.
