There are some things that sound scary, then there are things that actually ARE scary... and staying the night in an old funeral home is at the top of the list. There's a haunted B&B in Oklahoma that was formerly a funeral parlor and it's now one of the most haunted places in the state. If you have the nerve, book a night at this bed and breakfast that's sure to give you nightmares.
Stone Lion Inn is housed in a beautiful Victorian mansion that was built in 1907 as a personal residence, then turned into a funeral home in the the 1920s. In the 1980s it was renovated into a bed & breakfast. The house sits at 1016 West Warner Avenue in Guthrie.
As you can imagine, this place has quite the history. Past and current owners, visitors, and paranormal groups have all reported many hauntings from within the walls of this home. Visitors from all around come to see if they can experience some of the paranormal activity.
In the entry of the B&B you'll notice a white piece of furniture that looks like an entry table but if you look closely you'll notice something strange...it's an embalming table!
If you're not freaked out that there's an embalming table, then go ahead and book your stay in one of the suites and see if you can make it through the night without nightmares.
Employees and guests of Stone Lion Inn have seen apparitions in the mirror in this Parlor Suite of a man dressed in black, wearing a large Victorian hat. He is presumed to be the former owner who originally bought the house and lost one of his daughters to whooping cough in the home.
Stone Lion Inn is known for its Murder Mystery Weekends where you can come alongside 20-40 other guests and participate in (or solve) a murder. The weekend starts on a Friday night and concludes on Saturday morning.
All guests are asked to dress in character, learn their role, and act it out during the Mystery Weekend. Do you think you can handle an overnight stay in this old funeral home?
If you're still saying, yes, I want to book an overnight stay, visit their website here.
