What are some interesting abandoned places in Oklahoma?

Some interesting abandoned places in Oklahoma include:

  • Ingalls
  • Lenora
  • Picher

Oklahoma is home to plenty of abandoned places, ghost towns, and other derelict locales. To this day, you can check out quite a few of them, like the ghost town of Ingalls. Ingalls was settled in 1889, but its heyday didn’t last very long at all. At most, it had around 150 residents, and over the years, folks simply left. Nowadays, you can find some of its old buildings left over. Speaking of ghost towns, there are also places like Lenora and, of course, Picher – a town that is literally toxic. And we mean literally; folks were evacuated from the town thanks to toxic mining materials underground and in the water supply. Some folks hung on, stubbornly refusing to leave when asked to until an EF4 tornado ravaged what was left in 2008. Where are some creepy places in Oklahoma?

Some creepy places in Oklahoma include:

  • Masonic Boys' Home
  • Constantine Theater
  • Poncan Theater

Oklahoma is home to plenty of truly creepy places. According to some, it’s got a fair share of haunted and otherwise creepy places scattered all over, and the histories behind some of them are truly eerie. For example, there’s the old Masonic Boys’ Home, in Guthrie, which was in operation in the early 1900s and might have been the site of a murder or two. It’s said that shadows can be seen moving in the halls, a woman who disappears is often spotted in rooms, and the crying and screaming of children are commonly reported. There are also at least two haunted theaters in the Sooner State; they are Pawhuska’s Constantine Theater and the Poncan Theater in Ponca City. One is thought to be haunted by the daughter of the original owner, and the other is thought to be haunted by the spirits of Native American folks. Either way, they’re creepy as all get out. Nope!
