Oklahoma is widely known for its tornadoes in the spring but there’s also something else we are kind of famous for this time of year – the annual Azalea Festival in Muskogee. This bucket-worthy festival is one of the top spring events in the country and features 40-acres of gorgeous azaleas, tulips, and wisteria. It’s held during the whole month of April at Honor Heights Park and is free of charge to attend.
The 2022 Azalea Festival is going on now until the end of April at Honor Heights Park in Muskogee. The park is open daily and is free of charge to enter.
This spring festival is considered one of the top spring events in the nation and has been taking place every year since 1968. People travel from all over the world to witness the beauty that lies within Muskogee.
...including this purple azalea that is bursting with pops of purple. Azaleas can have no scent at all, or be highly fragranced. As you're walking around the park you'll smell lovely scents from some of the different varieties.
But that's not all you'll find at the festival. There are special events during the month of April with food, arts & crafts, live entertainment, and much more.
Follow along on the “Visit Muskogee” Facebook page to see more photos of this year’s festival or to learn more.
While in town visiting the Azalea Festival, head over to The Fish Hut for a delicious bite to eat. You’ll find “always fresh” fish tacos, fish platters, fried fish, fish baskets, and more.
