Ohio Is Home To The World’s Largest Cuckoo Clock And It’s A Unique Sight To See

Ohio's Sugarcreek is home to the world's largest cuckoo clock, a unique and historic attraction.

Did you know Ohio is home to the world's largest cuckoo clock? Most people don't. Tucked away in the small town of Sugarcreek, you'll find this world-record-breaking hidden gem. The next time you're traveling in Ohio Amish Country, you'll definitely want to stop and get a photo or two. Here's how this one-of-a-kind attraction found itself in the Buckeye State:

In addition to being "The Little Switzerland of Ohio," Sugarcreek is one of the most popular Ohio Amish Country destinations.

You'll find unique architecture and a charming atmosphere in this unique town. It prides itself in its German and Swiss heritage -- and you can't leave without bringing purchasing some homemade Swiss cheese while you're in town.

You'll find the massive cuckoo clock on the corner of Main and Broadway Street. From a distance, it looks like just another building, rather than a giant clock.

Address: 100 North Broadway Street, Sugarcreek, OH, 44681.

In the 1960s, an Ohio restaurant commissioned a clockmaker to construct the world's largest cuckoo clock. It took 12 years and $50,000 but eventually the clock was completed in the 1970s.

The clock was fully restored in 2007 after several years of exposure to the outdoor elements had taken a toll on the famous landmark.

Today, you can visit the clock for yourself and watch its wooden Oomph-pa band preform every 30 minutes. It's truly a unique sight to see.

The clock stretches 24 feet tall and proudly sits right in the center of Sugarcreek. You shouldn't have any trouble finding it.

If the clock isn't performing when you arrive, just take a seat and wait until the clock strikes the hour (or half hour). And don't forget your camera!

Be sure to check out the cheese stores and antique shops as well. The town makes a lovely day trip destination.
