There's one little museum in northwest Ohio that's been hard at work restoring a railroad. The Toledo Lake Erie & Western Railway and Museum in Grand Rapids, Ohio is a little-known hidden gem that makes a wonderful day trip destination when you're looking for something unique to do with the family.

The Toledo Lake Erie & Western Railway and Museum features 10.5 miles of track between Waterville and Grand Rapids, Ohio.
You'll find it at 17475 Saylor Ln., Grand Rapids, OH 43522.
For years, this non-profit organization has been hard at work to clear the way for motor cars and get the railroad fully restored.

This unique museum is open for the season from June - October on the first and third Saturdays of each month from noon - 4 p.m.
You'll observe several pieces of historical railroad equipment and learn all about northwest Ohio's rail history.
Along the motor car rides, you'll get to cross the picturesque bridge over the Maumee River, which stretches more than 900 ft. long.
The motor car rides are $5 per person, $3 for children ages 3 - 12 and children ages 3 and under are free. For more information, click here.
