Sleep Underneath The Forest Canopy At These Epic Treehouses Near Columbus
When you were a child, you probably dreamed of living in a treehouse – up in the trees, your own little space, away from it all, a sense of peace and adventure all at the same time. Maybe you and your friends even pulled together your own treetop fort. Maybe you had one of those awesome dads who actually built the most incredible tree house.
Whatever your treehouse experience was, you can relive the wonder by spending a night (or two… or a week) in a gorgeously designed treehouse high up in the canopy of the Mohican Forest. Located eight miles outside of Loudonville and about one and a half hours northeast of Columbus, The Mohicans offer a total of five treehouses for rent and each is beautiful in its own way. In a beautiful wooded area just outside of Mohican State Park, you will find The Mohicans.
This treehouse is accessed via a bridge from a hill and is suspended among white oak and hickory trees. It has grapevine railings, a cedar double door entrance, and the kitchen cabinets are made out of 100-year-old reclaimed barn wood!
The Little Red Treehouse is also designed by Pete Nelson.
The Little Red features a five-foot stained glass window, which allows morning light to filter in through all shades of the rainbow. To get to it, you will go up a staircase and down a 30-foot suspended bridge. There's even an outdoor shower!
The other three treehouses - Tin Shed, The Moonlight, and The Old Pine - are equally as beautiful.
Each will put you among the trees and make you feel at peace in the nature. Many of the treehouses have a remarkable design story. You can find learn about the work and ideas that went into these designs on each The Mohicans' website.
While some of the treehouses have an outdoor shower, all have an indoor bathroom.
You will find lovely woodwork, many of it from old reclaimed wood. In addition to the nice rustic feel, you will also experience modern industrial-style design features.

All treehouses and most of the cabins feature sustainable design concepts, including reused materials, on-demand hot water, radiant heat, and local materials.
Sustainable practices also went into the construction of the treehouses.
Most of the laborers lived no more than eight miles away from the site. It addition, the treehouses are made out of recyclable and long-lasting materials.
The Mohicans are wildly popular for weddings, so they tend to fill up far in advance and get especially busy during warmer months.
