Today, we’re going to check out a new restaurant in the Van Aken District that has locals abuzz with excitement. This dining district in Shaker Heights is known for excellent cuisine, and visitors insist this newcomer is a perfect fit for the coveted neighborhood. Kindred Spirit is a bucket list destination, without a doubt. This new concept comes from Forward Hospitality, the masterminds behind local favorites like One Red Door, Flip Side, and 3 Palms Pizzeria.
This cozy eatery opened in 2021 in Shaker Heights' Van Aken District, and diners are hooked.
When the space opened in spring, diners were amazed to see that the space (which formerly was occupied by Sawyer’s) has been totally transformed. Now, it's artistic and industrial at the same time.

The food is best described as rustic Mediterranean-meets-West-Coast, and it's downright delightful. Shareables round out the menu and give diners a chance to share in every indulgence.
Like the other concepts from Forward Hospitality, this dining destination truly specializes in comfort food. The menus feature something for everyone, from shareable dishes to indulgent entrees to sweet-as-pie desserts.

Plus, an impressive selection of cocktails and wine bottles offers an opportunity to balance out or enhance any flavors you choose.
Reds, whites, rosés, and bubbles ensure your wine preference is catered to. The wine list is short and sweet, but it's comprehensive. Not a wine person? Check out the cocktails on the dinner menu or ask your server for suggestions.
With entrees like chicken and waffles, crab cakes, and breakfast burgers, brunch will make your mouth water.
