With some 368,000 residents, Cleveland is certainly a big city... but it's far from the biggest big U.S. city. In fact, we don't even rank among the 50 most populated cities in the United States. Nonetheless, attractions here often draw crowds. Some of the very best places in Cleveland are well-trafficked, but, fortunately, some little-known places still remain peaceful and quiet. The newest park in the Cleveland Metroparks, Cleveland-Cliffs Bike Park, is one such place. It was unveiled in late 2022, and in-the-know locals are obsessed. It's filled to the brim with fun and unique adventures, but you might just have the entire park to yourself if you time your visit right!
If you're seeking something unique in Cleveland, then you have to check out the new Cleveland-Cliffs Bike Park at Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation.
The fascinating Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation is a worthy bucket list stop in its own right. This park, which features a portion of the Ohio and Erie Canal, takes you along the famed Towpath Trail to explore the region's history. Man-made wonder and natural beauty coexist in this unique section of the Cleveland Metroparks.
Unveiled in late 2022, this cool park has several first-of-its-kind features.
A paved pump track, kid-friendly bike playground, jump line, and other features are totally new to the region. If you're feeling competitive, the outdoor competition course allows you to challenge your friends.
With your bike and a bit of confidence, you can catch some mad air at this spot.
If you're new to this style of biking, then the bike playground should be your first stop in the park. It's friendly to young people and beginners alike, and it allows opportunity to test your skills and build your confidence.
Along the way, fun features keep you engaged.
If you've visited this reservation before, then you'll easily spot this new course just north of CanalWay Center. If you're planning to document the experience, plan to wear your smartphone with an armband or something similar so you don't lose it. If you're capturing photos for friends, set your camera to sports mode... you're going to need the extra fast shutter speed!
Once you're feeling more confident in your skills, the hills on the pump track will be next on your list to conquer.
Cyclists of all skill levels enjoy trying out this one-of-a-kind outdoor track in Cleveland. It's fun to sit back and watch, too!
Thanks to support from The Cleveland-Cliffs Foundation, this park is totally free to visit and use.
Remember to bring safety equipment and stay hydrated! Helmets, elbow pads, and even knee pads will keep you in one piece as you navigate the ups and downs (and ups and downs and ups...) of this hilly track.
And as you feel more and more adventurous, you might take advantage of ramps and wood-wrapped tunnels at Cleveland-Cliffs Bike Park.
It's so much fun to put your skills to the test at this unique spot in the Cleveland Metroparks! If you had fun here, keep in mind that there are more than 30 miles of mountain bike trails throughout the Metroparks to explore.
