Oberlin, Ohio is home to a truly unique piece of history turned into a themed bed and breakfast. 1803 Hallauer House Bed and Breakfast is a must-visit for both Ohio and American history buffs. It’s hiding some rare pieces from The Civil War and it belongs at the top of your Ohio bucket list. Take a look:
What was once a stop on the Underground Railroad is now a one-of-a-kind getaway in the small town of Oberlin.
You'll find it at 14945 Hallauer Rd., Oberlin, Ohio 44074.
Although it's fully restored and updated, many of the features are original to when the house was first built in 1830. The fireplaces, floors, doors and much of the woodwork is original.
Evidence of the house being used as a stop on the Underground Railroad include a hidden crawl space, a dry cistern and a hole in the floor board above the crawl space.
Each room here is unique from all the others. Pictured is the Union Room. It features an antique dressing table and a Union Army uniform hanging on the door.
There's also a hot tub and dry-heat sauna, a fitness center and music room.
