So many longtime businesses in Cincinnati go through transformations from time to time to stay current with their customers. This may be as simple as some new paint and decor or it may mean a total overhaul and reinvention. On a street corner along Wasson Road in Oakley sits what many call The E. The Establishment has been around for decades and most know it as a dive bar (that had a stellar grilled cheese sandwich). The bar was bought last year and this summer it has been undergoing a transformation into a family-friendly hangout in Cincinnati. It is now reopened and serves up tasty BBQ, great drinks, and has a whole new look and feel.
If you've ever been out and about in Oakley, you very well may know about The E.
Formally known as The Establishment, this dive bar was often crowded late into the night and a popular spot for those hanging out in the area. With new owners and a new look, it's now poised as an equally fun, family-friendly hangout in Cincinnati.
The renovations took place over the summer and The E is now reopened for your enjoyment.
The once dark and small front bar area has been completely overhauled and there are now plenty of windows for light and a totally different atmosphere.
The Establishment recently held a grand opening and guests, new and old, came to check out what's different.
In addition to a new paint job and a new logo, The E is practically brand new and even sports nice (clean) bathrooms! It's the type of place you can take any age to during the day and for dinner, but then the crowd gets a little more lively at night.
If you visited The E up until its brief closing, then you're in for a surprise.
Both the inside and outside have changed, but it is still an excellent spot in a great location for hanging out with friends.
The outdoor patio may be the best transformation as it now offers many tables and cozy areas for a nighttime fire.
Enjoy a drink, have fun at trivia night, and catch the game just as you would have before, you'll just now be able to do all of them in an updated, fresher environment.
Another welcome addition and change to The Establishment is Smoked Out Cincy, which has set up shop inside the bar.
They have a walk-up window where you can order and then enjoy your meal at a table in the bar. Everything is smoked in house, they have several mouthwatering options, and rumor has it that they still serve a stellar grilled cheese.
With the changes happening along Wasson, it's not a huge surprise that the new owners of The Establishment would want to update this local dive.
Now a family-friendly hangout in Cincinnati and still an excellent choice for nightlife, The E is ready for more fun in the decades to come.
The E is now a family-friendly hangout in Cincinnati, but it will continue on its tradition as a bar and gathering spot for a more lively crowd in the evenings. Did you go to The E when it was a dive? Have you been since it opened with a new look? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
