There's no doubt about it... winter is off to a frigid start here in the Queen City. Temperatures have been dangerously cold, but the good news is that they won't stay that way! If you want to get out and experience the beauty of a winter day, the first place you should consider is the Cincinnati Nature Center. With miles of trails and picturesque bodies of water that include a truly enchanting lake, you'll want to visit this hidden gem this winter.
The Cincinnati Nature Center is a beautiful hidden gem just outside of the city and is ideal for reconnecting with nature.
You can purchase a membership to the Nature Center or buy a one-day pass when you visit. The money spent is well worth your time here, as it is extremely well-maintained and filled with a variety of landscapes to explore. It's fun for all ages, all year long.
Hiking and spending time near the water may not be the first activities that come to mind during winter, but they should be.
Rowe Woods at the Milford location of the Cincinnati Nature Center offers more than 16 miles of hiking trails, as well as the serene Powel Crosley Lake and other charming ponds. Even on a cold, wintry day, it's a magical place to wander and rejuvenate.
The pathway right along the lake, as well as the hiking trails that lead past the ponds, are very accessible and well marked.
There's an ideal trail for anyone looking for a little winter escape and the Nature Center itself is a great spot to warm up from the cold. When the weather warms up, you'll have to return and retrace your steps to see how the landscape has blossomed and returned to life.
The Cincinnati Nature Center is an idyllic place all year long, but don't forget about it in the winter.
