Do you ever wish that you could go back in time to the 1950s, when life seemed so much simpler? While that might not be possible without a time machine, you can catch a little glimpse of this bygone era when you dine at Hathaway's 50s Diner.
Hathaway's opened in 1956, and it's been serving up diner classics in Cincinnati ever since.
The diner is located on the first floor of the Carew Tower, at 441 Vine Street, Cincinnati.
Step inside, and you'll immediately fall in love with this retro diner.
From the naugahyde swivel stools to the checkered black and white tile, this place embodies everything 1950s.
The no-nonsense waitresses are dressed in vintage-style dresses, with beehive hairdos.
Breakfast is straight out of the 1950s, with classic items like omelets and toast, biscuits and gravy, and pancakes on the menu.
This is definitely the best way to start your day.
For lunch, start with an order of cheese curds.
These little deep-fried gems are a treat you won't want to miss, and they're delicious dipped in marinara sauce.
For lunch, try a tasty burger with crinkle-cut fries.
You can't have a burger without a hand-dipped shake!
These shakes are made the old-fashioned way, and served right alongside the cup they were made in.
Entrees includes all the classics, like this smothered roast beef served with mashed potatoes and green beans.
This is comfort food at its finest.
For dessert, a slice of homemade coconut cake will hit the spot.
Don't like coconut? The chocolate cake is to die for, too.
Hathaway's 50s Diner is always hoppin'. Stop by to see what all the fuss is about.
The diner is open Monday through Thursday from 7 AM to 3 PM; Saturday and Sunday fro 8 AM to 2 PM.
Have you dined at Hathaway's? We'd love to hear what you thought!
Here's another icon of Cincinnati: this five-story bookstore that opened in 1940.
