Thrift stores have changed a bit over the years, but they remain a place where you can typically find interesting and unique items and plenty of vintage flair. Many local thrift and vintage stores now like to include a particular style and personality and no place in Cincinnati does that better than Chicken Lays an Egg in Northside. This vibrant thrift store perfectly sums up the character of Northside, and the hidden gems you’ll find inside make it a destination that every Cincinnatian should visit at least once.
Chicken Lays an Egg has been charming Northside and Cincinnati since 2009 and continues to provide a can't-miss shopping experience in the city.
Whether walking or driving down Hamilton Avenue in the heart of historic Northside, you can't help but notice the brightly colored store that always has something eye-catching in its windows. Chicken Lays an Egg is not a traditional thrift store, where you might expect to have to sift through poorly treated items in a less than clean environment. This shop will entice you to stay and hang out for awhile, perusing the displays and vintage items that offer something for everyone.

Walking through the door is a step back in time to a scene that would be well placed in an Austin Powers movie. The bright walls and variety of vintage finds will have your eyes quickly wandering around the space.
The 70s vibe is apparent in the wood paneling (don't miss a peek at the dressing room), but the store carries treasures from many other decades, as well. You'll find everything from clothing for all ages, games, toys, home decor, jewelry, shoes, artwork, and more.
The store is extremely clean and beautiful to look at, and you can tell a lot of love and care goes into it each day. The space feels like an art gallery and fashion show in one and is a great spot to look for a unique clothing item, gifts, costume ideas, or just something fun for your home.
The inventory at Chicken Lays an Egg varies, giving you plenty of reason to visit again and again.
The store is open Wednesday through Saturday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. If you haven't been to this exciting area of Cincinnati in awhile, this charming thrift store is the perfect excuse to check it out.
