Located near Trinidad, College Cove is a stunning beach that surprisingly few people know about. The trail to the beach is steep, but it's so worth it. A staircase makes it a little easier, but prepare yourself for a climb on your return to the parking lot.
You'll find College Cove in the north cove of Trinidad State Beach. To reach the parking lot, head onto Stagecoach Road from downtown Trinidad. Drive past the signed entrance to Trinidad State Beach and continue on the road signed for College Cove.
The beach feels delightfully secluded despite being located near a popular state beach. The cove is completely surrounded by towering rocks and rugged scenery, making you feel as if you've entered your own little private oasis.
However, it's the water that will truly leave you in awe. It's incredibly clear in the cove and from a distance looks to be an amazing shade of blue. It may look like something straight from the Caribbean, but the water is still rather cold. Still, it's perfectly refreshing on a hot summer day.
