The park is located in Lake County on the southeast corner of Clear Lake. It's open year-round for all kinds of activities including bird watching, hiking, interpretive programs, and a historic ranch tour.
The park's designation as a California State Historic Park comes from the fact that it's home to some of the oldest archaeologic sites in California. These sites provided artifacts of the Pomo people, and some of them are estimated at over 14,000 years old.
It's evident that the park is forever stamped by the rich cultural heritage of the land's native peoples. Park rangers ask that you protect these precious artifacts by leaving them where you found them.
In addition to history, the park is abundant with wildlife of a variety. Here, you have the opportunity of spotting animals like mink, river otters, raccoons, muskrats, turtles, opossums, and 151 different bird species!
