There’s No Other Cemetery In North Carolina As Unique As This One
There is a movement that’s been sweeping America in recent years, and surprisingly, it began in our neighbor and sister state, South Carolina. It’s a burial practice that doesn’t involve harsh chemicals, or even huge concrete vaults, and the cemeteries are unlike anything you’ve seen before. There aren’t any rows of perfectly lined headstones, or beautiful (yet giant) mausoleums.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! And on that note, please nominate your favorite local business that could use some love right now: https://www.onlyinyourstate.com/nominate/
Carolina Memorial Sanctuary is located at 195 Blessed Way, Mills River, NC 28759. The park is open seven days a week from sunrise to sunset. Business hours are Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Also, Blessed Way is a new street located off of Old Fanning Bridge Road and does not show up on all maps yet. You’ll find turn-by-turn directions on this page of the official website for Carolina Memorial Sanctuary.
