The Stomach-Dropping Suspended Bridge Walk You Can Only Find In North Carolina

Atop the picturesque Grandfather Mountain sits one of the Tar Heel State’s most popular landmarks — a 228-ft. suspension bridge that connects two peaks and sways a mile above sea level. Each year thousands of tourists cross the bridge, known as the Mile High Swinging Bridge.

We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! The bridge is open daily and it’s right off the Blue Ridge Parkway at 2050 Blowing Rock Hwy., Linville, NC.
