This Disturbing Wooded Spot In North Carolina Is So Creepy It Inspired A Movie

The Devil’s Tramping Ground, located 10 miles from Siler City in western Chatham County, sits in a forested space near the Harper’s Crossroads area in Bear Creek, North Carolina. Well-known legends surrounding this mysterious area have long captivated the imaginations of many. This creepy spot inspired a movie, “The Devil’s Stomping Ground.” Let’s see why the spooky wooded area inspired some folks to make a film.

As legend has it, the devil inhabits this area.

Another theory is the spot was a meeting place once used by local American Indian tribes, whose ceremonial dances left the ground bare.
He is said to walk around this barren circle where nothing seems to grow.

This foot-wide path forms a perfect circle 40 feet in diameter.
This is perfect for a movie set, which is about 15 college students who on May 1, 2021, went out to shoot their senior project.

The movie has been released to theaters and opened the 2022 Cucalorus Film Festival in Wilmington.
