The Outdoor Discovery Park In New York That’s Perfect For A Family Day Trip
Home to our tallest mountains and some of our favorite natural attractions, the Adirondack Park is full of endless adventures. There may be nothing quite like exploring these secluded destinations, but for some of us we’re lacking the ability to climb our way up to the top of one of our High Peaks. Providing the most breathtaking alternative for you to reach sweeping views of the region, this one outdoor discovery park is a day trip that anyone can take on!
Right in the heart of the Adirondack Park, the town of Tupper Lake is home to one of our favorite destinations.
As soon as you walk through the doors you'll feel like you've entered a new world, throwing you into the history of how the Adirondack region came to be.

Made up of different halls and exhibits, families will be able to get hands on while they learn about what makes the Adirondack region so special.
Surrounding you with wildlife, you'll be able to get an up close view of a variety of different animals.

With over 900 Adirondack animals at the center, it can be hard to choose a favorite, but there's nothing like laying your eyes on the big otter tank that they feature here.
Another family-friendly feature that we love about the center is the Artist Studio. Here visitors can take the time to paint while they get creative in a room that's decorated in Adirondack-themed art that's been loaned by local artists.
When we last visited in February one of the Naturalists was showcasing a snake, but you'll also find Animal Encounters showing owls, porcupines and other wildlife from the center.
Gradually ascending you from the ground to the treetops, this place gives you the experience of being up in the Adirondack sky without having to do anything too strenuous.
Made up of elevated boardwalks, swinging bridges and informative signs along the way, you'll soon realize that you're learning so much about the Adirondacks all while having the time of your life.
For the greatest view, visitors will have to make their way to the highest point of the walk - the Bald Eagle's nest that brings you an extra 8-feet above the already elevated platform.
