Writer some days, editor other days, nerd all days. Love to travel to lesser-known spots and give them the love they deserve. Independently owned motor inns, Mom and Pop restaurants, uncrowded National Parks and trails.
In between these, spend my free time virtually adventuring through point-and-click games. Native New Yorker but can frequently be found roaming other parts of the United States.
Looking for a spot in the Hudson Valley region where you can take a challenging yet extremely scenic hike? Do you want to follow that up with some scrumptious wings and other delicious food as your reward? Head to Bear Mountain State Park located in both Rockland and Orange Counties and the 4.5-mile Bear Mountain Loop Trail. And then after you hike Bear Mountain, head down the “goat trail” (aka Bear Mountain Bridge Road) to NY Firehouse Grille in Peekskill.
There are over 200 miles of trails to explore within Bear Mountain State Park as well as a zoo, carousel, recreation on and around Hessian Lake, a pool, an ice skating rink, and dining. Be sure to check out the website for Bear Mountain State Park for the most up-to-date information on planning your visit.
