Stay Overnight In The 161-Year-Old Erie Mansion, An Allegedly Haunted Spot In New York
With Halloween happening at the end of next month, you may currently find yourself seeking out any and all haunted destinations here in New York. In the past here at Only In New York, we’ve covered everything from
popular lakes with chilling histories to haunted train rides that you can ride through the countryside. If you’re looking for an eerie attraction that you can enjoy for a bit longer, then see how you can spend the night in this 161-year-old mansion that’s been known to experience paranormal activity!
Out in the small village of Clyde where you're just under an hour away from destinations like Syracuse and Rochester, you can book a reservation to spend the night in a haunted mansion.
Originally built all the way back in 1858, the Erie Mansion has been operating as a bed and breakfast in town for more than a decade.
What originally started off as a 12,000-square-foot, 43-room mansion in town for the Ely family eventually would become many other places of business over the course of history - until it underwent renovations after it was purchased by its current owner.
While those who live in town will tell you that the historic mansion itself has been rumored to have quite a spooky past, it wasn't until the renovations began that people started to believe this place was truly haunted.
As if the skeleton art made from teeth and other unique quirks about this place weren't chilling enough, many of the workers who were here during the renovations began to refuse to work in the house alone after experiencing bits of paranormal activity.
Today, the Erie Mansion bed and breakfast is known for being a historically haunted mansion. Just take a look at the coffin furniture!
Inside the bed and breakfast, you'll find four beautiful rooms with their own private bathrooms that are decked out with lots of mahogany. While the rest of the mansion is filled with 23 chandeliers, 12 fireplaces, stained glass, carved woodwork, and apparently ghosts.
Earning its name from the fact that it's in such close proximity to the Erie Canal, there's a unique mixture of hauntings and history inside these walls.
Open every day of the week, all throughout the year, book your stay at the Erie Mansion if you're brave enough to take on what it's like to spend the night in a reportedly haunted bed and breakfast.
