Build Your Own Sled For New York’s Cardboard Box Derby This Winter
If you’re someone who loves to getting out and playing in the snow while it’s here, then there’s no better place to visit in our state than New York’s snow belt. Taking you all the way out to Western New York where you’re in our state’s westernmost corner, it’s time to discover all that comes along with attending Peek’n Peak Resort’s annual March festival that will have you enjoying all your favorite things about this time of year. Check it out!
Bringing you all the way out to the small town of Clymer in Chautauqua County, on March 20 through the 22 this year you'll be able to enjoy one Peek'n Peak Resort's most fun events.
Drawing out people from all over Western New York and beyond, while it's technically called Spring Fest, this event celebrates all your favorite parts of winter.
Gathering at the top of the resort's designated sledding hill, New Yorkers can use cardboard to create their own one-of-a-kind sleds to compete in the festival's Cardboard Box Derby.
A fun craft for the entire family to work on, competitors create the most unique sleds that you've ever seen and attempt to race them down these massive hills.
Did you realize we had such an exciting cardboard box sled race here in our snow belt?
While Spring Fest takes place over the course of the entire weekend, the actual Cardboard Box Derby will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. - so mark your calendars.
Never knowing exactly what you'll see, over the past years we've seen everything from kitty pirate ships...
...to families of crayon boxes flying down these lanes!
If you're wondering what else comes along with this fun 3-day long festival, let us fill you in on the other activities that're going on.
On Friday, you'll be able to enjoy a Toga Party at 8 p.m., and live music and jello shots galore inside Bistro 210 beginning at 9 p.m.
Those who are feeling thirsty can enjoy a Drink Us Dry Party on Saturday out on the resort's deck with ice luges...
...and even mugs made out of ice.
Bringing the most fun to the weekend, Saturday will also be when you can check out things like ice carving demonstrations, live music, and even appearances by Old Man Winter.
Plus, the famous Pond Skim Competition starts at 2 p.m. on Saturday, and you absolutely cannot miss it.
Ending the weekend with the first-ever Hair of the Dog Party and a Bloody Mary Bar from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, you can find out more about Peek'n Peak Resort's Spring Fest Weekend,
