I get it -- New Mexico just isn't known for its water. While there are several lakes dotting the state's terrain and rivers running through, the Land of Enchantment is best known for its desert and mountainous landscape. So, you may not think that there are waterfront retreats in New Mexico but I'm here to tell you that there are! If you'd like to make an escape to a waterfront getaway, here are a few to consider:

1. Luxurious Log Cabin on a River, Taos

Located on 5 acres near Carson National Forest in Taos, this 1940s cabin is a serene escape complete with seasonal river and mountain views. In today's world, it's virtually (pun intended) impossible not to feel overwhelmed with, overstimulated by, and quite frankly just plain over technology at times. We can't escape it in our everyday lives, which means we have to make a conscious effort to unplug. My favorite way to take a digital detox is to book a stay in a cabin surrounded by beautiful nature so I'm too busy enjoying the great outdoors to even think about checking my phone. If you feel the same way, this secluded Airbnb in New Mexico is calling your name. Perched on a hilltop high above Ruidoso, this cozy cabin is just a 10-minute walk to Midtown while still feeling somewhat remote because of the elevation. It's quiet, offers breathtaking views, and sleeps up to four guests, ideal for families, couples, and solo travelers alike.

Open, airy, and spacious, this lovely cabin offers stunning views from every room. It has one bedroom with a king bed, plus a sleeper sofa with an additional queen-size mattress in the living area. There's a full kitchen, so you can either cook your favorite meals or opt to check out the local restaurant scene.

A dining table seats four guests, and there is a desk that's perfect for remote work (especially with the 215 Mbps Wi-Fi!). If that isn't heaven, I'm not sure what is!
