Check out this incredible restaurant in Albuquerque - it might be the most unique place you'll eat at all year.
El Pinto Restaurant got its start in 1962, as a small, one-room restaurant in Albuquerque. Now owned by brothers Jim and John Thomas (grandsons of the original owners), this third-generation restaurant is one of the best in the entire state. You'll find it at 10500 4th St. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114.
Over the years, the restaurant has expanded from one room to a space that can seat 1,200 diners. It has three dining rooms...
...five patios...
...and a beautiful cantina. The architectural details throughout are stunning. El Pinto has a casual vibe, but every little detail here is exquisite.
Though you'll be delighted with the atmosphere, the food is every bit as awe-inspiring. You'll find a huge array of traditional New Mexican dishes made with fresh, local ingredients, and a large menu of tequilas and margaritas.
These guys are serious about their chiles, which are grown in the fields in Hatch and roasted right onsite.
Whether you choose a house favorite like the red chile ribs, or go for a traditional combo plate, you're certain to find several tastebud-tingling menu items to love.
You'll want to save some room for a slice of levante after your meal. It's a traditional dessert that includes homemade biscochitos soaked in Patron XO Cafe, Kahlua,
brandy, and coffee, layered with mascarpone cheese, a light whipped cream and shaved chocolate.
Visit for Sunday Brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.. You'll enjoy a host of tasty brunch items like blue corn blueberry pecan pancakes and carne asada skillets.
El Pinto makes its own salsa at its production facility right next door to the restaurant! Take home a jar of salsa (or find it at your local grocery store) to bring a little bit of that authentic El Pinto flavor to your own home.
El Pinto Restaurant is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, and on Sunday for brunch.
